Late last year, our lovely friend found this poor scrap at the side of the road. Destin. He had been hit by a car, and yet lay there silent in pain as though accepting his fate that he would die there, unable to move. Gently he was rescued and taken to the vet, where he was x-rayed and we were given the joyous news that if he was operated on quickly he would not remain a paralysed dog. We appealed for your help, and we were able to cover the whole Vet bill – and you all became a part of Destin’s life. There aren’t words to describe how much we truly appreciate everyone’s kindness and love. He didn’t have a broken spine, but his hips were broken, his right back leg was broken and his back left leg dislocated. His surgeries over last month, and Destin has started on his road to recovery. He lives in the garden with his friends, and is allowed only gentle play, gradually building his strength back in his legs, as his fur grows back too. Destin might always be a little bit wonky, but he is back on all four paws. We have seen videos of him playing and it is a world apart from the video we saw of him lying by the side of the road dying. We cannot thank you enough for everything that you have done to help this boy, and we truly hope that some day soon, someone will fall in love with this wonky boy, and the final part of his happy ever after jigsaw. Until that day, Destin is safe, warm, well fed and enjoys love.
