Horse vet clinic, and neuter and minor surgery clinic for cats, dogs and small animals.
Prahova, Romania.
Commenced 2024 project in association with
Paws2Rescue vet scholars and
Save The Horses Romania
Estimated opening date 2027.
Our most ambitious project yet, our footprint for the future for all animals.
For Save The Horses Romania, a life-saving vet clinic for horses and large animals – where the nearest clinic is more than a 4 hour drive away.
A neuter clinic to be available for all NGO’s and charities to hold cat and dog neuter campaigns.
Working together to build a brighter future for animals.
The huge land purchase was made possible with enormous thanks to an incredibly generous donation from our patron Ricky Gervais.
Here is an update on how things are moving in the first year. Starting with protecting the land and properties:

This is the fence which runs down one side of the property to the rear. Ther are 34 of these spaces, and a total of approx. 68 linear metres. This will be c 2.1metres high. The fence at the back and the other side will be c 3.1 metres high:
The tarpaulin above is temporary and will be replaced with concrete blocks. All the iron poles are now in place. This will be covered between the two rows of poles.

Areas are being prepared which will be recovery pens for the animals. They have been planned and the poles installed as above.
The poles for the areas have been prepared which will be the dog runs:

When we first saw the well in 2024, it looked like this, and ready to collapse:

Work has started on this to stabilise it, and the original plaque and memorial has been restored:

One of the smaller buildings looked like this in 2024 when we first went to the property. It is not complete, but look at the transformation already – the asbestos roofs long gone, the walls reinforced. Before:
A gate has been made at the back of the main yard, for the toilets and other areas:
In the largest open building, which will become the large clinic, the rooms down the side have started to be renovated. The office is almost complete now:

The area outside the office is under the roof cover, and will have sofas for visitors to rest in. At the moment, it is being used for a new sick horse:

The largest outdoor stable looked like this in 2024 when we first went to the property:
This building is currently being worked on, as a total re-roof and almost a re-build of the walls needs to be done. These will be recovery boxes
The vet clinic building:
The main clinic building is the next building being focused on, and work is planned to start before the end of 2025 and before winter. The building has had some outside work done, a new roof and currently looks like this: The first picture will be the vet clinic for horses:

Work has mainly focused on outside work, as the weather has been good. On rainy days, work starts on some of the many, many, small inside rooms – where work is not structural. This room is underground and has been fully treated and is almost completed and ready to paint white – it needs an air pump installed too.
We haven’t yet braved it down these steps to old the underground distillery, we are awaiting an architect to visit to ensure it is structurally safe!
There are other buildings with asbestos roofs which need replacing, such as this one:
This building may need to be taken down totally due to the cracking, and we await expert opinion on whether this can be rectified first:

As you can see, there is a huge amount of work still to do, which is carried out as and when, if there is a worker available to help, and as and when donations come in. Thank you for your amazing support which enables us to continue leaving our footprints across countries where animals cannot survive without us.
