Cookie Policy

Last updated: 23 October 2026

This policy explains how the Paws2Rescue website uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device when you visit. They help the site work properly, keep it secure and remember your choices.

Your choice

When you first visit our website, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics only runs if you click Accept. If you click Decline, no analytics cookies are set. We remember your choice for 30 days, then ask again. To change your mind sooner, delete the cookies for paws2rescue.com in your browser and the banner will appear on your next visit.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary cookies. These are needed for the website to work and to keep it secure, so they cannot be switched off:

  • __cf_bm (Cloudflare): helps protect our website from bots and attacks. It expires after 30 minutes.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: used on our sponsorship form to check that you are a real person and not a spam bot.
  • seopress-user-consent-accept / seopress-user-consent-close: remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies. It expires after 30 days.
  • WordPress cookies (wordpress_*, wp-settings-*): only set if you log in to manage the website. Most visitors will never receive them.

Analytics cookies (only if you accept). We use Google Analytics to understand how people use our website, such as which pages are visited, how long people stay, how they found us, the type of device they use, their approximate location and which links to other websites they click. This helps us improve the site. It does not tell us who you are.

  • _ga (Google Analytics): tells visitors apart. It expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_FMNWV9RG2M (Google Analytics): remembers your current visit. It expires after 2 years.

Google may process this information outside the UK. See the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also block Google Analytics on all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Third-party cookies. Some features on our website are provided by other companies, who may set their own cookies:

  • Google reCAPTCHA (_GRECAPTCHA and other Google cookies): used on our contact form to protect it from spam. Google's use of this information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
  • PayPal, JustGiving and Give as you Live: if you use their buttons or forms to donate, they may set cookies to process your payment securely. Please see their own cookie policies.

Links to other websites

Our website links to other sites, such as Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), YouTube and our fundraising partners. Those sites have their own cookie and privacy policies, which apply once you visit them.

How to manage cookies

As well as using our cookie banner, you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers explain how to do this in their Help section, and you can find more guidance at ico.org.uk. If you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of our website, such as our forms, may not work properly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if we change the services we use. The latest version will always be on this page.
