Bertie (F) is a gorgeous, large size Mioritic Shepherd/livestock guardian type cross. She is 6-7 years old, and around 30kg.
Bertie is looking for a one-in-a-million home. Her ideal home will be somebody with experience of large dogs, as well as with specific behavioural challenges. She suffers from arthritis which the vet is helping her manage. Bertie does have separation anxiety, so is looking for someone at home most of the time, and who can help her work on this. She can also be very anxious, and has used her mouth on a few occasions, but not broken the skin. She is muzzle trained. We are looking for somebody happy to continue her work with the behavioural and veterinary support that are currently in place.
Bertie can take some time to warm up to people, but when she does, she forms such deep, strong connections. Bertie is such a loyal girl, very good with children and no food possessiveness.
Bertie is good with other dogs, enjoys her walks on a harness especially a sniffy walk rather than highly intense exercise. She loves spending time in the garden, so a secure garden is key for Bertie.
Our behavioural team will have an introductory online meeting with any adopter to help ease her transition to a new home.
