The award will come as no surprise to anybody that has worked with Alison and further cements her reputation as one of the drivers of change to social impact.

We believe that acknowledging and celebrating the achievements of influential leaders is essential, as it highlights the significant contributions they make within their respective fields. Recognizing these individuals not only honours their hard work and dedication but also inspires others to pursue excellence and foster positive change in their communities. By shining a light on their accomplishments, we encourage a culture of innovation, collaboration, and leadership that can lead to lasting impacts across various sectors. They don’t necessarily have to be the biggest, but they have to be an organisation that is dedicated to grassroots efforts that drive tangible local transformation. We feel that Alison Standbridge is a worthy winner of our award.

Alison’s journey began in 2012 when she learned about the severe plight of stray dogsin Romania from a friend involved in rescue work. With the stray dog population having escalated dramatically since the 1970s, resulting in widespread abuse and neglect, Alison was compelled to act. Witnessing the inhumane conditions these dogs were living in daily, and committed to making a meaningful impact, Alison’s mission encompassed both international outreach and understanding Romania’s local culture and political landscape. Under her leadership, Paws2Rescue has focused on spaying and neutering initiatives, education, and finding loving homes for hundreds of dogs, ultimately transforming their lives and advocating for their welfare.

At Paws2Rescue, neutering services are fundamental to their mission, as Alison and her team have established from donations, crucial medical and educational initiatives in rural Romania to combat animal suffering and cruelty. Their efforts extend to educating locals about animal welfare, providing veterinary scholarships, and actively participating in neutering campaigns to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable animals. While their primary focus remains in Romania, they also work in other countries around the world, including Ukraine, Peru and the UK.

Paws2Rescue continues to rely on donations and support from the community by raising awareness and helping them to continue tackling the root causes of suffering and create a bright healthier future for all stray animals.

The high regard in which Alison and her team are held in the charity sector reflects not only the exceptional change which their charity is making but also their care of their growing volunteer team. Alison’s journey underscores the power of determination and the right mindset in effecting real change. As a modern female leader, she continues to inspire, with many more chapters to unfold in both her own story and that of Paws2Rescue.
